Barbara J. Ryan, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Barbara J. Ryan, M.D., F.A.C.S., is a plastic surgeon, who joined the Aesthetic Plastic Surgical Institue in August 2008. She hails from her home town of Fairview Heights, Illinois, a suburb outside of St. Louis, Missouri, where she is the eldest of three children born to John and Nelda Borowy. Dr Ryan attended Arizona State University where she graduated Summa Cum Laude prior to her studies at the Mayo Clinic.

After obtaining her medical degree in 1996 from Mayo Medical School in Rochester, Minnesota, she completed her General Surgery Residency in 2001 at Loma Linda University Medical Center in Loma Linda, California. Following her general surgery training, Dr. Ryan obtained her board certification in general surgery and remained in California serving in the U.S. Navy from 2001 through 2006 as a staff general surgeon caring for patients stateside at Naval Medical Center San Diego and as a trauma surgeon deploying to Afghanistan and Iraq for Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Upon completion of her military commitment, Dr. Ryan moved to Nashville, Tennessee in May 2006 to further her surgical career by completing her Plastic Surgery Residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center from 2006 to 2008. Dr. Ryan now happily returns to southern California to settle in and to provide reconstructive and aesthetic plastic surgery with compassion, excellence, and love.
